Paper Plane Cocktail, a Modern Classic

I didn’t always love bourbon. I got shit-faced on Jim Beam in my early twenties while camping with my brother. Ever since that day, I couldn’t stand the stuff. Eventually, I began wondering if eschewing bourbon meant that I was missing out. I decided that instead of skipping bourbon altogether, I would just skip Jim Beam and never, ever do bourbon and Coke. Or Sprite. To my surprise, I found I liked bourbon. Elijah Craig, Maker’s Mark, and especially Jefferson’s Ocean Aged at Sea. It’s that last one that I use in the drink I recently discovered: the Paper Plane Cocktail.

This is one more great drink to add to my growing list of favorites. What I love about it is I have few bourbon options. Bourbon is a great standalone drink but sometimes I want to get adventurous without falling back to an Old Fashioned. The Paper Plane helps.

I don’t want to get too wordy with this and give you the history of the Paper Plane Cocktail when you can go read it for yourself. After all, do you really need someone’s life story when all you’re after is a good recipe? No. No one does. I prefer it as an after-dinner reward, but you can have it however you like.
